Blizzard Be Damned: Mini-Z Racers Rev Up Indoors While Omaha Chills Out!

Omaha, NE – March 15, 2026 – While a wintry storm raged outside with gusty winds and swirling snow creating tricky conditions across the city, a spirited crew of RC car fans turned the Mini Z Racing track into a cozy hub of adrenaline-fueled action. This was the Midwest Racers Organization’s Winter Series #6 – proof that bad weather can’t stop the fun when you’ve got an indoor track and a passion for pint-sized speed demons!

Inside, away from the outdoor chill, 7 dedicated drivers piloted 11 entries through a total of 945 laps. The lineup featured three classes: 2500 Lipo Stock, Kyosho Cup, and Box Stock, with two qualifying rounds leading to thrilling A-Main finals.

In the 2500 Lipo Stock Class, Gerry Burr owned the day, topping both quals with scorching laps under 8 seconds and sealing the A-Main win with 36 laps in 5:02.903. “More and More its Beardmore” (gotta love that handle – beard goals?) snagged second, just edging out Joel Schlegelmilch in a close finish that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

The Kyosho Cup Class saw Joel Schlegelmilch flip the script, dominating quals with 31 and 32 laps before cruising to victory in the main with another 32 laps and a best of 8.749 seconds. Gerry Burr took second, while Beardmore and Nick Burr filled out the podium in a fun, competitive showdown.

Box Stock Class brought the variety, with Schlegelmilch doubling up for another win – improving to 29 laps in the A-Main after a solid Qual 2. Matt held firm in second, and August and Moses Kesler battled for the spots below. Shoutout to August’s wild 6.206-second lap in Qual 1 – glitch or genius? We’ll call it magic!

As the event wrapped in the late afternoon, these racers showed that a little storm is no match for RC enthusiasm. Kudos to the Midwest Racers Organization for keeping the series rolling. Next stop? Hopefully clearer skies, but these folks are geared up for anything. Stay revved, Omaha!
